Cereal Panna Cotta

Baby Blogger NateBaby Blogger Nate Remember when you were a kid? What was the best part about eating cereal on saturday morning? For me it was the milk! No matter the cereal, I always had this delicious leftover treat. Frosted FlakesFrosted Flakes I was thinking about that this weekend as I munched on some delicious frosted flakes. I thought "There has to be a super cool way to use this flavorful liquid." Maple Mini WheatsMaple Mini Wheats So I came up with this new dish and Im so stoked about it! I took some frosted flakes, some milk and a bit of heavy cream and simmered it. Frosted Flakes in MilkFrosted Flakes in Milk While I was at it, I did the same with some Maple and Brown Sugar Frosted Mini Wheats too. I added a bit of agave and as soon as it was hot I took it off the heat. Maple Mini Wheats in MilkMaple Mini Wheats in Milk In a small bowl, I "bloomed" 2 1/2 teaspoons of gelatin and let it sit for 5 minutes. GelatinGelatin Then, I added the gelatin to the hot liquid and stirred until it was all dissolved. I got some of those neat little rubber molds and oiled all of the edges (this makes it easier to pop them out after they "set") then tossed them in the fridge for 2 hours. Panna Cotta in MoldsPanna Cotta in Molds Once they firmed up or "Set" I popped the little guys out onto a plate and garnished with the cereal. I still enjoy a big bowl of frosted flakes now and again.
