I was at the grocery store the other day and these big beautiful crab legs caught my eye. ZZTop started ringin' in my head "She's got legs... and knows how to use em'" Ingredients for Crab Boil I figured Labor Day weekend was a great time for a good ole' fashioned crab boil. I grabbed some Crab, Shrimp, Mussels, Smoked Pork Sausage, Potatoes, Corn, and Red Onions. I also grabbed a Crab Boil Seasoning pack. If you want to make it yourself its pretty simple. Crab Boil Seasoning The main ingredients are mustard seed, coriander seed, all spice, dill, clove, red pepper and bay leaves. I think its a bit easier and more time efficient to buy it all mixed. Bring a pot of water to boil with the seasonings, a bit of salt and pepper, and half a lemon, add the potatoes, sausage, corn and onions and let simmer for about 25 minutes. Season the water Add the crab legs first, for about 8 minutes, then the shrimp, then the mussels. Add the corn and onions to flavor the liquid After you add the mussels let simmer for another 10 minutes and then reduce the heat to low and let all the flavorful liquid absorb into the crab legs. When its all finished serve in a big bowl with lots of the liquid at the bottom. If you want melt some butter with a bit of garlic for dipping. I love this dish! Its so easy and it only takes one pot, which makes clean up pretty easy too. I'll be posting This saturdays Ustream recipe tomorrow.
