Its the simple things...
One of the things I love about food is the ability to paint a picture with flavors. I went to my butcher this week and got my hands on some beautiful Sea Scallops. I hadn't planned on cooking scallops, I just happen to see them and got all excited. I stopped by Publix on the way home and grabbed some spinach and asparagus and a few Organic tomatoes still on the vine. I had one thought the entire car ride home... Simplicity. Scallop are so delicate (if you cook them correctly) and the flavor is very unique. Think about the ocean, the smell of a fresh salt water breeze, the sunshine perfectly softened by a passing cloud, except its on the end of your fork... I know I am a food dork, get over it. I paired the perfect little scallop with a roasted tomato and large mushroom and an Asparagus Spinach Butter sauce. Its was scrumptious and tender. The flavors were all so mild and subtle. I almost couldn't eat it because it was so beautiful... almost. I'll try to make a video of this one for you guys, its becoming a new favorite of mine.
later,
Nater
